Outside of this program I am apart of Youth and Government, I volunteer at my church’s Sunday school, and I am the social media manager for Black Student Union. When I have free time, I love to create art; I have an instagram page dedicated to my art portfolio.”

What happens when middle school students step inside a real manufacturing facility?

In this month’s Greet Manheim Township, we’re highlighting an exciting project from Manheim Township Middle School, where students partnered with Lancaster County–based Ecore International for the statewide “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” video contest.
Students didn’t just tour the facility. They filmed and interviewed employees, and worked together to create a two-minute video that tells the story of how reclaimed rubber is transformed into performance flooring used in gyms, playgrounds, healthcare facilities, and more.

Along the way, they discovered that modern manufacturing is about teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

Community Event Spotlight: Woodcarving Festival

Looking for something unique to do this weekend in Lancaster County?

The 51st Annual Woodcarving Festival is happening March 14–15 at Millersville University’s Student Memorial Center, and it’s a great way to experience a long-standing local tradition.

Visitors can explore more than 120 tables filled with incredible wood carvings, carving tools, and specialty supplies. Throughout the event, you’ll also be able to watch live carving demonstrations and even try hands-on carving activities yourself.

Families will enjoy:
• A kids scavenger hunt.
• Tool sharpening demonstrations.
• Dozens of displays showcasing the artistry of woodcarving.

Whether you’re an experienced carver or just curious about the craft, this festival offers something for everyone.
